6 Wilson Frame on Spinal Surgery Top Base Preparation
and Spinal Top Installation
Prior to proceeding with the setup, refer to Spine Top Installation and Base Preparation or view the Owner's Manual. Ensure the Spinal Surgery Top is positioned at the lowest level on the H-frame when used with the Wilson Frame. Patient Care Kit Preparation Open the Patient Care Kit and set aside. The ProneView® Cushion Insert should be opened 60 minutes prior to use, while the GentleTouch® Face Pillow and Arm Cradles should be opened at least 20 minutes prior to use for complete expansion of the foam. Standard Component Installation and Adjustment Prior to procedure set up, refer to the Standard Component Installation and Adjustment section and complete the required steps. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP Adjustable Mirror Platform Place the adjustable platform over the rails and secure it in place with the rod. Ensure that the adjustable posts are in the lowest position in preparation for patient transfer. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP 1 ProneView Helmet and Cushion Insert Place the ProneView Cushion Insert into the ProneView Helmet and within the tabs provided at the chin end of the ProneView Helmet. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP 2 Head Support Options To support the patient’s head, either the ProneView Adjustable Mirror Platform or GentleTouch Pillow may be used. If using the GentleTouch Pillow, place the Face Plate onto the rails and secure in place using the Velcro® straps. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP + Arm Board Brackets Slide the Arm Board Bracket onto the Spinal Top at the desired position and tighten the T-Handle. The Arm Board Brackets may be placed in front of or behind the ProneView Mirror System or the Face Plate as needed to accommodate correct position of the patient’s arms. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP 3 Arm Board Assembly Place the Arm Board Assembly into the Bracket and tighten the T-Handle to secure the Arm Board Assembly in place. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP Patient Instructions Hyperextension of the shoulder may cause compression of the brachial plexus resulting in a potential nerve or vascular injury. Failure to ensure proper arm positioning may result in harm to the patient. Position Wilson Frame Orient the Head-End of the Wilson Frame, which features the red adjustment buttons, towards the Head-End of the Spinal Surgery Top. Align the Wilson Frame over the rails of the Top and slide it into place so that it rests next to the head support. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP 5 Attach Wilson Frame Secure the Wilson Frame in place by wrapping the Velcro straps around the rail of the Spinal Surgery Top. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP 6 Leg Boards Attach two Leg Boards using the Velcro straps. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP 7 Optional - Leg Sling Use of the Leg Sling allows for a greater degree of hip and knee flexion by allowing the patient’s knees to be lowered below the spinal frame. For Patient Transfer
The Wilson Frame should be at its lowest position for patient transfer. Insert the Crank Handle into the base of the Wilson Frame. Engage the end of the Crank on the Post and turn counterclockwise to lower the pads to their lowest position. An audible clicking sound will be heard when the lowest position is reached.

VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP Patient Care Kit Application Disengage the pads from the Foot-End Retaining Lip to place the Disposable Patient Care Kit Pad Covers on each pad. To disengage pads, reach under the pad support and lift up at the center of the pad to release from the Retaining Lip. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP Patient Care Kit Application Apply the foam cross bar protector over the cross bar at the head end of the frame. This protector will help ensure that the patient does not make accidental contact with the metal cross bar. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP Wilson Pad Position While the pads are disengaged from the Foot-End of the Frame, set them to the surgeon’s preferred width, which is usually determined by patient size. The patient’s anatomical landmark for pad placement is the patient’s nipple line, which is usually midline on the pads. To adjust each pad, push and hold the red Lateral Adjustment Release Button located at the Head-End of the frame. Slide the pad supports to the desired location, and release the button to lock into place. Re-engage the pad. VIEW NOW CONTINUE WITH SETUP Patient Instructions Ensure patient’s anatomical landmarks are aligned with support pads and log roll the patient to a prone position.
